Elliot Ross Buckley (June 18, 1921 – June 30, 1992) was an American lawyer and politician.
A nephew ofWilliam F. Buckley Sr. and first cousin ofWilliam F.,James,Priscilla,Patricia, andReid Buckley, he practiced law and was active inRepublican Party politics inNew Orleans after graduating fromTulane University Law School in 1949.In 1960, he ran againstDemocratic incumbentHale Boggs for theU.S. House of Representatives fromLouisiana's 2nd district.In 1962, he was the Republican nominee forMayor of New Orleans. He moved toVienna, Virginia in 1969, afterthe election ofRichard Nixon to work in theUnited States Department of Justice. During this time, he served on the Vienna town council. He was appointed general counsel of theOccupational Safety and Health Review Commission in 1982 and served as the commission's chair from 1984 to 1989.[1][2]
