Cedric Dormaine Hill (born June 3, 1973) better known by his stage nameE.S.G. (which stands forEverydayStreetGangsta orEverydayServingGod) is an American rapper fromHouston,Texas, and is a member of theScrewed Up Click.

Career

Born on June 3, 1973, inBogalusa, Louisiana, he moved toHouston in his mid-teens. He began rapping in 1991, but spent a year in prison for drug possession.[citation needed] After being released in late 1992, he resumed his rap career a year later. He joined the Screwed Up Click, headed byDJ Screw, who helped to popularize the "chopped and screwed" style of rap music.[1] His debut album,Ocean of Funk, was released on February 1, 1994 under independent label Perrion Entertainment. It contained the popular single "Swangin' & Bangin'", which would later be remixed for his follow-up,Sailin' Da South, released in September 1995 underPriority Records; the album was released while E.S.G. was serving another jail sentence for a murder charge.[citation needed] He has released 13 more studio albums since then, ranging from 1998'sReturn of the Living Dead and the collaborative album, 2022'sDippin & Swangin with Mac Mall.[citation needed]

Health problems

On July 1, 2022, E.S.G. was diagnosed with colon cancer.[2][3] In June 2023, he was hit by a car after leaving a club, which ultimately led to him having his leg amputated.[4]
