Dylan James Christopher Levitt (born 17 November 2000) is a Welsh professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forScottish Premiership clubHibernian and theWales national team.
Levitt is a graduate of theManchester United youth system. He made his senior debut in aUEFA Europa League match in November 2019, which was his only first-team appearance forManchester United. He spent time on loan atCharlton Athletic, Croatian clubIstra 1961 and Scottish clubDundee United. He left Manchester United in July 2022 and joined Dundee United on a permanent deal. Levitt moved to Hibernian a year later.
Levitt represented Wales at several youth levels, before making his senior international debut in aUEFA Nations League game againstFinland in September 2020. He was selected for the Wales squads that played inUEFA Euro 2020 and the2022 FIFA World Cup.
Levitt joined theManchester United youth system at the age of eight and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2018.[3] In November 2019, he signed a new contract with the club until June 2022.[4] He made his senior debut with United in aUEFA Europa League match againstAstana on 28 November 2019.[5]
On 8 September 2020, Levitt was sent on a season-long loan toCharlton Athletic.[6] On 8 January 2021, it was reported that Levitt's loan at Charlton Athletic had been cut short after he made only five first-team appearances at theLeague One club.[7]
On 15 February 2021, Levitt joinedPrva HNL sideIstra 1961 on loan for the remainder of the2020–21 season.[8] On 14 April, he was unexpectedly given a chance by coachDanijel Jumić in theCroatian Cup semi-final againstRijeka, being named in the starting lineup. He played until 64th minute when he was replaced byDino Halilović, as Istra managed to pull off an upset 3–2 win and qualify for thefinal.[9]
On 20 August 2021, Levitt joinedScottish Premiership clubDundee United on a season-long loan.[10] After scoring six goals in 29 league and cup appearances for the Tangerines, including an extra-time winner againstKilmarnock in the fourth round of the2021–22 Scottish Cup,[11] and three in the final five league matches to help Dundee United qualify for European football, Levitt was voted the fans' player of the year.[12]
Levitt then joined Dundee United on a two-year deal in July 2022,[13][14][15] and later extended this contract by one year. United were relegated from the Premiership after the 2022–23 season, and in July 2023 the club accepted an offer of around £300,000 for him fromHibernian.[16][17]
Levitt signed a three-year contract withHibernian on 5 July 2023.[17]
Levitt represented Wales atunder-17,under-19 andunder-21 levels.[18] In May 2019, he was called up to theWales senior squad for the first time.[19] He made his debut on 3 September 2020, in a 1–02020–21 UEFA Nations League B away win againstFinland.[20] In May 2021, he was selected in Wales' 26-man squad forUEFA Euro 2020.[21] He made his tournament debut as a late substitute in Wales' 1–0 defeat againstItaly in Rome.[22] In November 2022, he was named in the Walessquad for the2022 FIFA World Cup.[23]
