Dylan Greenberg is an American film director and musician most notable for directing the 2015 filmDark Prism.[1] She has directed content forAdult Swim[2] as well as the feature filmsReAgitator: Revenge of the Parody,[3]Glamarus,[4]Wakers,[5] andAmityville: Vanishing Point.[6] Greenberg has directed music videos forMichael C. Greenberg was born inManhattan, New York to parentsKeith Elliot Greenberg and Jennifer Berton and was raised inBrooklyn. She directed her first feature film at 17, and has since directed and co-directed seven released feature films.[15][16]
In 2024, Dylan completed her seventh feature filmSpirit Riser which starsLynn LowryKansas Bowling andAlan Merrill and is narrated byMichael Madsen .[17] Dylan is also known for her work withTroma Entertainment andLloyd Kaufman.[18] Greenberg is currently co-starring in Kaufman's upcoming film "Shakespeare's Shitstorm" withDebbie Rochon.[19] Greenberg directed a music video for Finnish funk star Sam Huber, which premiered on European television networkYle.[10]
Greenberg completed the film Spirit Riser in 2024[20] which premiered at Museum of the Moving Image.[21] The film starred Greenberg's close collaborator Amanda Flowers along withKansas BowlingAlan MerrillDorian ElectraKate BornsteinPatti HarrisonRyan TrecartinLloyd Kaufman and was narrated byMichael Madsen.[22][23]
Greenberg directed the microbudget feature filmDark Prism (2015) while she was still in high school, which featured appearances byLloyd Kaufman,Matt Katz-Bohen, andMac DeMarco. At age 18 Greenberg was able to garner press fromRolling Stone,Vice,Pitchfork and more, arguably making it the most internationally discussed feature film to have a total budget under 1,000 dollars of 2015.[24][25]Dark Prism showed internationally at Festivalito De La Palma festival in the Canary Islands to critical acclaim and is now available to watch onAmazon Prime.[26]
Greenberg directed a feature film titledAmityville: Vanishing Point which served as aDavid Lynch inspired dark parody of horror films.[27]
Hoping to take the parody element further, Greenberg directed the feature filmReAgitator: Revenge of the Parody as a queer and woman centeredDada inspired homage to horror films such asRe-Animator andThe Pit and the Pendulum.[28]
In 2020, Greenberg released a short film starringBob Bert ofSonic Youth called The Bathtub. The actors were shot entirely on green screen and then inserted into carefully placed miniatures, to create the illusion of the action taking place inside of dollhouses. The film premiered inYahoo Entertainment.[29]
In 2021, Greenberg directed a short film for theAdult Swim compilation “Smalls Volume 5” entitled “The Puppeteer’s Assistant”. The film utilized a combination of live action and computer animation.[30]
