Dwe (Ꚁ ꚁ; italics:Ꚁ ꚁ) is a letter of theCyrillic script. This Cyrillic letter has a protruding vertical stroke (upturn), as with theCyrillic Ghe with upturn (Ґ ґ Ґ ґ), in the upper left corner of theCyrillic De (Д д Д д).[1]
Dwe was used in theold Cyrillic alphabet for theAbkhaz language, where it represented alabializedvoiced alveolar stop/dʷ/ⓘ, like the pronunciation of⟨dw⟩ in "dwarf". It corresponds to Дә in the new alphabet.
