J.F.C. Durai (25 February 1940 – 22 April 2024) was an Indian film director who was mostly active during the 1970s. As of 2014, he had directed 46 films inTamil,Telugu,Kannada,Malayalam andHindi. Though known for his work in commercial cinema, he made women-centric films likeAvalum Penthaane andPasi,[1][2] which won twoNational Film Awards. He served as a jury member of the58th National Film Awards (India) in 2011.[3] As of 2011, he was the vice president of the South Indian Film Writers' Association.[3]
Born on 25 February 1940,[3] Durai died on 22 April 2024, at the age of 84.[4]
