From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dunmurry Cross DEA (1993-2014) within Lisburn

Dunmurry Cross was one of the district electoral areas in Lisburn, Northern Ireland which existed from 1985 to 2014. It was one of four Lisburn DEAs until 1993, and one of five until 2014. The district elected seven members toLisburn City Council and formed part of Belfast West constituencies for theNorthern Ireland Assembly andUK Parliament and part of the Lagan Valley constituencies for theNorthern Ireland Assembly andUK Parliament.

It was created for the1985 local elections. It contained the whole ofLisburn Area E which had existed since 1973 and the addition of the Lambeg area fromLisburn Area D. It contained the wards of Collin Glen, Derryaghy, Dunmurry, Kilwee, Lambeg, Seymour Hill and Twinbrook. For the1993 local elections, Lambeg moved to the newLisburn North DEA, while a new Poleglass ward was created within the DEA. It was abolished for the2014 local elections with Derryaghy also moving toLisburn North DEA and the rest of the area was transferred to the newCollin DEA for the2014 Belfast City Council election.
