Andrew McLean Galloway IV was born inAyr on 6 June 1985.[3][4] He grew up in nearbyPrestwick, where he studied atPrestwick Academy.[5] He considered being a professionalfootball player when he was younger, playing for the youth club Prestwick Boys, normally indefensive positions. When he was 10 years old, Galloway read a magazine namedX Factor, which focused on conspiracy theories and ghost stories; this prompted him to write a letter to theFBI under theFreedom of Information Act, to which the FBI responded by sending him a file with several documents.[6] A fan of professional wrestling as a child,[7] he started training at the age of 15, and his parents agreed to support him as long as he gave the same amount of focus to his studies.[8] He agreed and earned amaster's degree incriminology fromGlasgow Caledonian University in 2006, also briefly attendingBirmingham University during his exchange year.[4][8]
In 2003, Galloway made his debut for the inaugural show ofBritish Championship Wrestling (BCW), operating in theGreater Glasgow area.
