Donnie Wingo (born February 13, 1960)[1] is acrew chief inNASCAR who last worked on the No. 34 team ofLandon Cassill[2] forFront Row Motorsports.[3] Wingo has seven career Sprint Cup victories as a crew chief.
Wingo began as a crew member and mechanic forJimmy Means in 1978.[1] Wingo first served as a crew chief withBud Moore Engineering's #15Ford in 1990. He first worked with driverMorgan Shepherd, earning a victory at the season-ending race atAtlanta Motor Speedway. Over the next five seasons, he worked withGeoff Bodine,Lake Speed, andDick Trickle, amassing three more wins (all with Bodine).[3] In 1996, he moved toTravis Carter Enterprises (later Haas-Carter Motorsports), working with driverJimmy Spencer until the end of the 2001 season, then primarily withTodd Bodine in 2002.[1][3] From 2003 to 2008, he served as crew chief onChip Ganassi Racing's 42 car, working withJamie McMurray for three seasons,Casey Mears for two seasons, andJuan Pablo Montoya for his rookie season including Montoya's first win atSonoma Raceway.[1][3] After eight races in 2008, Wingo was moved to the 41 team ofReed Sorenson.
In 2009, Wingo joinedRoush Fenway Racing, reuniting with McMurray on the team's 26 car including a win atTalladega Superspeedway in November.[1][3] He was moved toDavid Ragan's 6 team for 2010, replacingJimmy Fennig.[4] Wingo moved to the No. 21Wood Brothers Racing car near the end of the year to serve as crew chief for Roush development driverTrevor Bayne.[3][5] With Bayne moving to Roush's 6 car for 2015, Wingo was replaced byTeam Penske crew chief Jeremy Bullins for driverRyan Blaney.
