Commonwealth of Dominica (Dominican) passports are issued to citizens ofDominica for international travel. The passport is aCARICOM passport as Dominica is a member of theCaribbean Community. TheDominican government began issuingbiometric passports to its citizens on 19 July 2021, having spent $13 million upgrading its passport system to improve national security across its borders.[2][3]
The Dominican passport shares thecommon design standards ofCARICOM passports. The cover is black for civilians with thecountry's coat of arms and official name, as well as theCARICOM logo, on the front cover.
As of 9 February 2025,[update] Dominican passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa on arrival access (includingeTAs) to 144 countries and territories, ranking the Dominican passport 31st in the world in terms of travel freedom according to theHenley Passport Index.[4] Passport holders may travel to theSchengen Area with relative ease and without challenging visa requirements.[5]
