TheDoha Marathon (also known as theOoredoo Doha Marathon for sponsorship reasons[1]) is an annualroad-basedmarathon hosted byDoha,Qatar, since 2013.[2][3][a] The marathon is aWorld Athletics Elite Label Road Race.[4] During the race weekend, ahalf marathon, a10K race, and a5K race are also offered.[1]

History

The inaugural race was held on26 January 2013 as a half marathon event.[5][2] More than 300 runners participated in the half marathon, which started at theMuseum of Islamic Art and ran alongthe Corniche and back.[2] The half marathon was won by Ethiopian runnerGadissa Chaniada and British runnerRebecca Botwright.[2]

The 2023 edition of the marathon is the first edition of the race listed as anElite Label Road Race byWorld Athletics.[6][3]
