Dobrujan Bulgarians (Bulgarian: Добруджанци or Добруджански българи) — also spelledDobrudžans,Dobrudzans, andDobrudjans — is a regional, ethnographic group of ethnicBulgarians, inhabiting or originating fromDobruja. Today, the larger part of this population is concentrated inSouthern Dobruja, but much is spread across the whole ofBulgaria and the diaspora. Until the early 1940s, the Dobrujan Bulgarians lived also in the whole of Dobruja, part of theOttoman Empire at the past and part of theKingdom of Romania then.[citation needed] In September 1940, the governments of Bulgaria and Kingdom of Romania agreed to apopulation exchange according to theTreaty of Craiova. The Bulgarian population inNorthern Dobruja was expelled into Bulgaria-controlled Southern Dobruja, todayDobrich Province andSilistra Province.[1][2]Nevertheless, some Bulgarian minorities still exist inNorthern Dobruja inCeamurlia de Jos,Tulcea,Ovidiu,Lumina,Cernavodă,Constanța,Cumpăna,Valu lui Traian,Mangalia.
