Djeidi Hamara Gassama (born 10 September 2003) is a professionalfootballer who plays as awinger forScottish Premiership clubRangers. Born in Mauritania, he has represented France at youth international level.[2]

Club career

Paris Saint-Germain

A former youth academy player ofBrest, Gassama joinedParis Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2019.[3] He signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2020.[4] On 14 May 2022, he made his professional debut in a 4–0 league win againstMontpellier.[5]

On 6 September 2022, Gassama joined Belgian clubEupen on a season-long loan deal.[6]

Sheffield Wednesday

On 15 August 2023, Gassama joinedEFL Championship clubSheffield Wednesday.[7][8] He made his debut on 19 August 2023 againstPreston North End coming off the bench.[9] His first goal came on 1 January 2024 againstHull City with a fine effort from 25 yards.[10]

The following season, he won the clubs player of the month for January scoring twice.[11] He finished the season winning the Wise Old Owl Player of the Year award.[12] During pre-season for the2025–26 season, Gassama was heavily linked with a move toRangers, with managerRussell Martin saying the move was "all done at our end."[13]

Rangers

On 15 July 2025, Gassama joinedScottish Premiership clubRangers on a four-year deal.[14] A week later, he made his debut as a second half substitute and subsequently scored on his debut in Rangers'UEFA Champions League qualifier againstPanathinaikos in a 2–0 victory.[15]

International career

Born in Mauritania, Gassama represented France at youth international level. In September 2022, he was called up to theFrance under-20 team for twofriendly matches againstTunisia.[16]
