The district "Liwaa" (Arabic:لواء, pluralAlwiya ألوية) are theadministrative centres ("chief towns") inJordan.[1] The twelvegovernorates of Jordan contain fifty-twoalwiya which are listed below by governorate. In many cases the name of the chief town is the same as the name of thedistrict (liwa) orsub-district (qadaa) administered.[dubiousdiscuss]
