Families

Adoxaceae (moschatel family)
Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle family)

TheDipsacales are anorder offlowering plants, included within theasterid group ofdicotyledons. In theAPG III system of 2009, the order includes only two families,Adoxaceae and a broadly definedCaprifoliaceae.[1] Some well-known members of the Dipsacales order arehoneysuckle, elder, viburnum, andvalerian.

Under theCronquist system, the order included Adoxaceae, Caprifoliaceaesensu stricto,Dipsacaceae, andValerianaceae. Under the 2003APG II system, the circumscription of the order was much the same but the system allowed either a broadly circumscribed Caprifoliaceae including the familiesDiervillaceae,Dipsacaceae,Linnaeaceae,Morinaceae, andValerianaceae, or these families being kept separate. TheAPG III system only uses the broadly circumscribed Caprifoliceae.[1]

The Dipsacales appear to be most closely related to theParacryphiales.[1]
