Distribution

Diplacus rupicola isendemic to the northernMojave Desert withinInyo County, in easternCalifornia.[5]

Although quite rare, the Death Valley monkeyflower can be found in shadedlimestone crevices on steepcanyon walls in the mountains borderingDeath Valley, and thesky islands in the northern Mojave Desert.

Description

Diplacus rupicola is aperennialherbaceous plant, growing 1–17 cm tall, with oblanceolateleaves 2–6 cm long. It has pinkishflowers, often faint in color, and has a magenta-purple spot on each lobe.
