Dip Gogoi (Assamese:দীপ গগৈ; born 17 December 1951) is an Indian politician fromAssam who was aMember of Parliament,Lok Sabha fromKaliabor Lok Sabha constituency from 2002 to 2014. He was also the member of theAssam Legislative Assembly fromKaliabor constituency in 2001 and is a member of theIndian National Congress. He is the brother of formerChief Minister of Assam,Tarun Gogoi.
Dip Gogoi was educated atDibrugarh University and graduated with aB.Sc. degree. He is married to Mitali Gogoi.[1][2]
Gogoi has served one term as aMember of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).[1] He was elected to the Assam state assembly from theTitabar constituency in 2001 but vacated the seat a few months later for his brotherTarun Gogoi.[1][3] Gogoi has since served three terms as aMember of Parliament (MP) from theLok Sabha.[1] He was elected fromKaliabor in the 2002 by-elections (seat vacated by his brother) and was re-elected in 2004 and 2009.[1] Gogoi is a member of theIndian National Congress.[1]
