Dioxifedrine (INNTooltip International Nonproprietary Name), ordioxifedrin, also known asα-methylepinephrine or as3,4-dihydroxyephedrine, is asympathomimeticmedication that was never marketed.[1][2][3][4] It is described as aβ-adrenergic receptor agonist andbronchodilator.[1][5][6] The drug is asubstituted phenethylamine andamphetamine and is thecatecholamine (3,4-dihydroxylated)derivative ofephedrine and the amphetamine (α-methylated)analogue ofepinephrine (adrenaline).[1][2] Analogues of dioxifedrine includedioxethedrin (α-methyl-N-ethylnorepinephrine),corbadrine (levonordefrin; α-methylnorepinephrine), andα-methyldopamine.[1]
