TheDiocese of Vyatka (Russian:Вятская епархия,Vyatskaya yeparkhiya) is a diocese of theRussian Orthodox Church which covers the exact territory ofKirov Oblast,Russia.[1] TheAssumption Cathedral in the region's capital,Kirov, is theMother Church of this diocese.[2]
It is headed by ArchbishopMark (Tuzhikov) and supported by theMoscow Patriarchate.[3]
The diocese of Vyatka and Great Perm was established in 1656. In 1799 it was renamed the diocese of Vyatka and Slobodsky after Great Perm was separated into its own diocese. It has twovicariates, one inSarapul established in 1868, and one inGlazov established in 1889.[4]
