Dilshad Nahar Kona (born 15 April 1981; known asKona)[1] is a Bangladeshi singer.[2] She wonBangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song"Tui Ki Amar Hobi Re" in the filmBishwoshundori (2020).[3]

Early life

Kona was a student of Moghbazar Girls High School and Lalmatia College,Dhaka.[1] She studiedNazrul Geeti in Nazrul Academy.[4]

Career

Kona was a member of the female bandAngels Four with Nafisa, Rumana and Tisha during 2003–2006.[5] It was formed byS.I. Tutul and Shopon.[5] After the band was disbanded, she started her solo career in 2006 with her first albumJamitik Bhalobasha.[5] Her next albumFuad featuring Kona, withFuad, was released in 2008. The albumSimply Kona released in 2011 was composed by Sri-Lankan music directorIraj Weeraratne and Bangladeshi composersBappa Mazumdar and Fuad.[1][6]

Kona performs voice-overs on television commercials in Bangladesh.[7] She hosted a show onNTV namedTumader Jonno Bangladesh.[5] She was one of the seven singers of the official song of2014 ICC World Twenty20.[8][9]
