Devon Joel Werkheiser (born March 8, 1991[1][2]) is an American actor and musician. As an actor, Werkheiser is known for his starring role asNed Bigby on theNickelodeon sitcomNed's Declassified School Survival Guide, and for his role as the lead character Nolan Byrd in the 2007 Nickelodeon television movieShredderman Rules. Werkheiser also played Peter Parkes in the fourth and final season of theABC Family seriesGreek.

Early life

Werkheiser was born inAtlanta,Georgia, and raised in nearbyJohns Creek. His parents enrolled him in acting classes at the Talent Factory, a local children’s acting program.[3]

After landing a minor role inWe Were Soldiers, Werkheiser and his mother moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. In 2003, he had a main role as Max Korda in the TV movieRecipe for Disaster.[4] Since his arrival inHollywood, Werkheiser has landed several television and film roles, the biggest of which is that ofNed Bigby onNed's Declassified School Survival Guide. He was cast as Ned in February 2003 and had missed much of the school year due to production and had to wait 10 months before it was picked up.[5][2] Werkheiser lent his voice in movies such as:Casper's Scare School the voice of asCasper the Friendly Ghost, Casper's Shadow, and Good Dragon andThe Wizzard of Krudd as the voice of Gordo.[6]

In 2007, Werkheiser starred in aNickelodeon movie based onWendelin Van Draanen'sShredderman book seriesShredderman Rules as Nolan Byrd/Shredderman.[7] Later that year, Werkheiser played the role of Chris Marino inLifetime original movieChristmas in Paradise.[8] In 2009, Werkheiser starred as Victor in the movieThe First Time.[4] He played the role of Victor, who has an incurable crush on hot senior Anya, who is way out of his league and she doesn't have a clue he exists. He also had a significant role in the movieThe Prankster, in which he played the role of Brad Burris.[9]

In 2011, Werkheiser played the role of Danny in the horror thriller movieBeneath the Darkness.[10] In 2012, he played the lead role of Cassidy Warren in web seriesNever Fade Away.[11] In 2013 Werkheiser starred as Max in the horror filmThe Wicked.[12][13] He played the supporting role of Brett in Lifetime movieZephyr Springs also known asDeadly Spa.[14] In 2014, Werkheiser starred as Nick Behrle in the movieCalifornia Scheming and had a role as Fitch in the movieHelicopter Mom.[15][16]

In 2016, Werkheiser starred as Jason in the television movieBad Sister, which premiered onLifetime on January 4, 2016;[17] in the movie his character is stalked by the school's newest nun.[18] He hosted DanceOn's first competition seriesDance-Off Juniors on free mobile-streaming serviceGo90, which premiered on April 20, 2016.[19] In summer 2016, Werkheiser starred as Logan in the romantic comedy filmSundown directed by Fernando Librrija and co-starringCamilla Belle,Sean Marquette, andSara Paxton.[20] On December 5, 2016, he guest starred in an episode of2 Broke Girls.[21] In 2017, Werkheiser played the role of Brock in the comedy filmWhere's the Money alongsideAndrew Bachelor andLogan Paul.[22]

In 2018, he had a supporting role as Joey in the indie crime dramaBreak Night and played the role of a judge in the dance filmTo The Beat! alongsideAlyson Stoner.[23] Werkheriser played the role of Charlie in the web mini-seriesRough Draft, which was released onYouTube on February 11, 2019.[24] Werkheiser played the supporting role of Floyd Stiles in the crime filmCrown Vic.[25] In 2019, Werkheiser starred as Sam in the romantic comedy filmSanta Girl alongsideJennifer Stone.[26]

In 2021, Werkheiser was a member of the cast in the filmRust, when production was suspended after theRust shooting incident which resulted in the death of cinematographerHalyna Hutchins.[27] Production on the film was later scheduled to resume in early 2023.[28]

Werkheiser was signed withUniversal Motown, however his label status onMyspace later changed to unsigned.[33] He performed live shows with female vocalists Kristen Marie Hollyin and Britney Christian.[34]

His first single, "If Eyes Could Speak", was released April 1, 2010 oniTunes. The official music video was released viaYouTube on June 15, 2010. It stars himself and his partner at the time,Molly McCook.[35] His second single, "Sparks Will Fly", was released July 29, 2010 on iTunes.[36]

He released his first EPI Am on June 25, 2013.[37] On June 9, 2015, he released his second EPHere and Now.[38] On January 3, 2016, Werkheiser released the single "Stuck On the Ground".[39] He released the single "Fire" on January 22, 2016.[40] On January 29, 2016, Werkheiser released a stripped version of "Stuck on the Ground".[41]

On April 23, 2020, he released his third EPChapter One, which consists of five songs.[42]

In 2023, Werkheiser founded a new musical project called Good/Vlly, moving away from his previous singer-songwriter material in favor of a more electronic sound. His first EP under the project,Brief Romance, was released on October 24, 2023.[43]

Personal life

Werkheiser was in a relationship with his co-starLindsey Shaw, during the last few months of filmingNed's Declassified School Survival Guide, and afterwards for over a year.[44][45]
