Des James (1952 – 27 June 2024) was anAustralian rules footballer who played forSandy Bay in theTasmanian Football League (TFL).

James, aback pocket, is noted his performances at the1979 Perth State of Origin Carnival, which earned him a spot in theAll-Australian team.^[1]

An Indigenous player, he was inducted into theTasmanian Football Hall of Fame in 2005.^[2] His older brotherGlenn James was an umpire in theVictorian Football League. Des James died on 27 June 2024.^[3]
