Der geduldige Socrates (TVWV 21:9, Hamburg 1721) is a comic German-language opera in three acts byGeorg Philipp Telemann to alibretto byJohann Ulrich von König [de].

The opera was Telemann's first full length purely comic opera,[1] and was performed at theOper am Gänsemarkt, whileReinhard Keiser was still running the opera.

The professional UK premiere was in 1974 byKent Opera conducted byRoger Norrington, withApril Cantelo,Thomas Lawlor andLinda Esther Gray among the cast.[2]
