TheDepartment of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is one of thedepartments of theSouth African government. It is responsible for protecting,conserving and improving theSouth Africanenvironment andnatural resources.
The department was created in 2019, through the merger of theDepartment of Environmental Affairs with the forestry and fisheries components of theDepartment of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.[1]
In 2025, the DFFE had an annual budget ofR9 billion.[2]
