From the outflow of Meddybemps Lake (45°02′20″N67°21′27″W / 45.0390°N 67.3576°W /45.0390; -67.3576 (Dennys River source)) inMeddybemps, the river runs about 23 miles (37 km)[1] southeast and east toDennysville, where it becomes tidal and soon joins theHardscrabble Riverestuary to formDennys Bay.
The Dennys River was named for an Indian hunter.[2]
