Denise Joy is an American politician. She serves as aDemocratic member for the 46th district of theMontana House of Representatives.[1] The district roughly represents the centralBillings, Montana area.
During the2024 elections,Emma Kerr-Carpenter won the seat for House District 46. However, Kerr-Carpenter was selected to replaceKathy Kelker in the state Senate due to her resignation. Joy was selected by the Yellowstone county commission to replace Kerr-Carpenter.[2]
In 2017 Joy became the only member of theDemocratic Socialists of America to be elected in Montana.[3] She was elected to the Billings City Council and was serving her second four-year term prior to appointment to the House.[2]
Joy currently lives in Billings but grew up inHardin, Montana.[3] Joy is a special needs assistant for Billings Public Schools.[2]
