Junior Madut (born 26 March 1997),[1][2] also sometimes referred to asDeng Junior Ring,[3] is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player forTrepça of theKosovo Basketball Superleague. After two seasons ofcollege basketball for theHawaii Rainbow Warriors, he played a season and a half in theNational Basketball League (NBL). He is also plays for theSouth Sudan national team.
Madut was born inJuba, South Sudan,[1] and grew up in theSydney suburb ofBlacktown.[4][5]
Madut attendedWyndham College in Sydney and thenDME Academy inDaytona, Florida.[1]
Between 2017 and 2019, Madut playedcollege basketball forEastern Florida State College.[1] After redshirting the 2019–20 season, he played for theHawaii Rainbow Warriors in the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons.[1]
On 9 June 2022, Madut signed with theSouth East Melbourne Phoenix of the AustralianNational Basketball League.[4] In 28 games during the2022–23 NBL season, he averaged 3.96 points and 2.32 rebounds per game.[6]
In February 2023, Madut joined theNorths Bears for the 2023NBL1 East season.[7] On 15 April 2023, he scored 50 points in a 113–62 win over the Penrith Panthers.[8]
On 2 May 2023, Madut signed a two-year deal with theTasmania JackJumpers.[9][10] On 5 January 2024, he was released by the JackJumpers.[11][12]
On 21 January 2024, Madut signed withKauhajoen Karhu of the FinnishKorisliiga.[13]
On 25 September 2024, Madut signed withManchester Basketball of theSuper League Basketball for the2024–25 season.[14]
In February 2025, Madut left Manchester and signed withTrepça of theKosovo Basketball Superleague.[15]
In 2021, Madut debuted for theSouth Sudan national basketball team atAfroBasket 2021.[3]
In August 2023, Madut was named in the South Sudan squad for the2023 FIBA World Cup.[16]
