Denílson Custódio Machado (28 March 1943 – 1 October 2024), best known asDenílson, was a Brazilianfootballer who played as amidfielder.[1]
He played his entire career (1962–1974) atFluminense, and won fourRio de Janeiro State Championships (1964, 1969, 1971, 1973), and threeGuanabara Rio Cups (1966, 1969, 1971).[citation needed]
At the international level, he made nine appearances for theBrazil national team, scoring one goal,[1] and participated at the1966 FIFA World Cup, making two appearances againstBulgaria andPortugal.[2]
He was known as the 'king ofstep-overs'.[citation needed]
Denilson died inRio de Janeiro on 1 October 2024, at the age of 81.[3]
