Dean Klafurić (born 26 July 1972) is a Croatian professionalfootball manager who is the manager ofBosnian Premier League clubŠiroki Brijeg.
Klafurić started working as afootball manager in Udarnik in 2005[citation needed]. He accepted the place of manager of theCroatia women's national team in 2009.[1] In 2012, Klafurić was sacked as manager.[2] He then started working in theDinamo Zagreb Academy.[3]
On 16 April 2018, Klafurić took over the caretaker manager role at Polish clubLegia Warsaw after compatriotRomeo Jozak got fired.[4][5] Klafurić would go on to win the domestic cup and a domestic league title double.[6] On 4 June 2018, he was appointed as the manager of Legia Warsaw, before getting sacked on 1 August 2018.[7]
Klafurić later worked as manager ofHrvatski Dragovoljac,[8] Cypriot sideEthnikos Achna andSlaven Belupo.
On 24 October 2022, Klafurić was appointed manager ofNemzeti Bajnokság I clubBudapest Honvéd.[9] He managed his first Budapest Honvéd match againstFehérvár, losing 1–0 at theBozsik Aréna on 29 October 2022.[10]
On 30 August 2023,Bosnian Premier League sideVelež Mostar appointed Klafurić as manager on a two-year deal.[11] His first match in charge was a 4–2 away win againstIgman Konjic on 16 September 2023.[12]
Klafurić suffered his first defeat as Velež manager againstBorac Banja Luka on 1 October 2023.[13] In his first everMostar derby, Klafurić's side were defeated byZrinjski on 18 October 2023.[14] He led the club to a 3–0 home win against Zrinjski on 13 November 2023, Velež's first derby win in three years.[15] He finished theseason with Velež in third place, qualifying for the2024–25 UEFA Conference League first qualifying round.[16]
On 17 June 2024, it was announced by Velež that Klafurić had surprisingly left the club by mutual consent.[17]
On 1 July 2024, Klafurić was announced as manager ofSerbian SuperLiga clubTSC.[18] The club had qualified for theUEFA Europa League play-off by finishing third in the national league in theprevious season.[19]
TSC was drawn to play againstMaccabi Tel Aviv in the play-off in August, and went on to lose 8–1 on aggregate, to drop down to the2024–25 UEFA Conference League. However, following a string of poor results, which saw him win only two games in the opening five league matches of the season, Klafurić resigned on 30 August 2024.[20]
Klafurić returned to the Bosnian Premier League in December 2024, having been revealed as manager ofŠiroki Brijeg on 20 December.[21] His first match in charge was a 1–0 home win againstGOŠK Gabela in aBosnian Cup game on 8 February 2025.[22]
