The soundtrack was announced on July 17, 2024, with the complete track list of 18 songs.[2][3] It features contributions fromNSYNC,Stray Kids,Fergie, the Platters,Huey Lewis and the News,Aretha Franklin andGreen Day amongst others.[4][5] Stray Kids performed the original song "Slash", which was released one day ahead of the soundtrack on July 23 as apromotional single.[6]
Stray Kids, who competed and placed first in the Korean music reality showKingdom: Legendary War (2021) performed a mashup of "God's Menu" andBlackpink's "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" withFelix dressed asDeadpool, thereby paying homage to the character and the film; the band andRyan Reynolds, who playsDeadpool, shared a mutual rapport in social media platforms.[7] Reynolds wanted the band to appear in a sequence in the film, but due to the2023 Hollywood labor disputes, it was logistically impossible.[8]
The film and the soundtrack also featured "The Greatest Show" from the soundtrack ofThe Greatest Showman (2017), which also starredWolverine actorHugh Jackman and performed it withZendaya,Zac Efron,Keala Settle and the film's ensemble cast.[9] The 1978 single "You're the One That I Want" performed byJohn Travolta andOlivia Newton-John for thesoundtrack toGrease (1978) was also heard in the film.[4]
Pete Hammond ofDeadline Hollywood wrote "Musically, though, it is the needle drops that really rock".[10] Vicky Jessop ofEvening Standard and Cory Woodroof ofFor The Win (USA Today) called it as "excellent" and "winningly brash".[11][12]

Rob Simonsen composed the film score after previously working with directorShawn Levy onThe Adam Project (2022) and thefourth season ofStranger Things. Simonsen admitted that the film's "exhaustingly funny" tone and irreverence guided his musical landscape where "in some ways, the stakes [for me] are less — they’re pretty high — but just the ability to have fun";[28] the film experiences numerous tonal shifts, where it goes from orchestral and emotional, to wacky and weird, admitting it as a "pretty broad canvas to be able to paint on".[28] Simonsen never met Levy in person and the latter supervised the film score throughZoom andFaceTime.[28]
Zanobard Reviews assigned 6/10 to the score and wrote "Rob Simonsen’sDeadpool & Wolverine score is… an interesting effort, for sure [...] But the main theme is kinda not as interesting as you’d want it to be, the action is a tad generic and the quieter moments are just kind of all right so overall – it’s difficult to have much to say about it."[29]
All music composed byRob Simonsen except where noted.[30]
