The Michelin Guides 1979 and 1985 refer to a restaurantKoeslag on the same location.[17][18] The Michelin Guide 1993 mentions hotelHerberg De Rustenberg and restaurantDe Bokkepruik on the Hessenweg.[19] In 2001, the hotel has disappeared andDe Bokkepruik is mentioned as restaurant with accommodation.[20]
The restaurant was originally located inZweeloo, in an old Saxonian farmhouse.[21] In 1992, Heleen and Jaap Istha moved the restaurant to Heemse. There it became part of hotelHerberg De Rustenberg, formerly owned by the parents of Heleen.[22] Already from 1791, the Koeslag family ran a farm with livery stables and inn at this address.[23]
