Máximo Douglas José Acosta (born October 29, 2002) is a Venezuelan professionalbaseballinfielder for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Acosta signed with theTexas Rangers as an internationalfree agent on July 2, 2019, for a $1.65 millionsigning bonus.[1] He did not play in 2020 due to the cancellation of theminor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[2]

Acosta made his professional debut in 2021 with theArizona Complex League Rangers of theRookie-levelArizona Complex League, hitting .246/.279/.393 with one home run, five RBI, and seven stolen bases. He appeared in just 17 games before being shut down and having surgery to alleviatethoracic outlet syndrome on August 25, 2021.[3] He spent the 2022 season with theDown East Wood Ducks of theLow-ACarolina League, hitting .262/.341/.361 with four home runs, 35 RBI, and 44 stolen bases.[4][5] Acosta spent the 2023 season with theHickory Crawdads of theHigh-ASouth Atlantic League, hitting .260/.312/.390 with 11 home runs, 60 RBI, and 26 stolen bases.[6][7]

Acosta spent 2024 with the Double-AFrisco RoughRiders, playing in 104 games and slashing .288/.353/.425 with eight home runs, 58 RBI, and 26 stolen bases. Following the season, the Rangers added Acosta to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[8]

On December 11, 2024, the Rangers traded Acosta, Echedry Vargas, and Brayan Mendoza to theMiami Marlins in exchange forJake Burger.[9] Acosta was optioned to the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to begin the 2025 season.[10]

Luarbert Arias (born December 12, 2000) is a Venezuelan professionalbaseballpitcher for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Arias spent the 2024 campaign with the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. In 44 appearances, he compiled an 8–6 record and 3.04 ERA with 75strikeouts across 68innings pitched. On November 4, 2024, the Marlins added Arias to their40-man roster to prevent him from reaching minor league free agency.[11]

Arias was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2025 season.[12]

Jesus Starlyn Caba (born December 6, 2005) is a Dominican professionalbaseballshortstop in theMiami Marlins organization.

Caba signed with thePhiladelphia Phillies as an international free agent in January 2023.[13] He made his professional debut that season with theDominican Summer League Phillies.[14]

Caba started 2024 with theRookie-levelFlorida Complex League Phillies.[15]

On December 22, 2024, the Phillies traded Caba and Emaarion Boyd to theMiami Marlins in exchange forJesús Luzardo and Paul McIntosh.[16]

Yiddi Lazaro Cappe (born September 17, 2002) is a Cuban professionalbaseballinfielder in theMiami Marlins organization.

Cappe defected from Cuba in 2018 and signed with theMiami Marlins as an international free agent in January 2021.[17][18] He made his professional debut that year with theDominican Summer League Marlins.

Cappe played 2022 with theFlorida Complex League Marlins andJupiter Hammerheads and started 2023 with theBeloit Sky Carp.[19]

Deyvison De Los Santos (born June 21, 2003) is aDominican professionalbaseballfirst baseman andthird baseman for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

De Los Santos was born and grew up inSanto Domingo,Dominican Republic. He played for theDominican Republic national team in the 2018U-15 Baseball World Cup.[20]De Los Santos was signed by theArizona Diamondbacks for a $200,000 signing bonus on July 2, 2019.[21] He did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[22]De Los Santos made his professional debut in 2021 with theRookie-levelArizona Complex League Diamondbacks, where he batted .329 with five home runs in 25 games before being promoted to the Low-AVisalia Rawhide, with whom he batted .276 with three home runs in 37 games.[23]

De Los Santos returned to Visalia at the start of the 2022 season.[24] De Los Santos batted .329 in 78 games for the Rawhide playing primarily third base, before being promoted to the High-AHillsboro Hops, for whom he batted .279. He was promoted a second time to theAmarillo Sod Poodles of theDouble-ATexas League for the final two weeks of the season, for whom he batted .231.[25] He was selected to play in theArizona Fall League for theSalt River Rafters after the season, for whom he batted .219/.286/.328.[26]

In 2023 he played for Amarillo, batting .254/.297/.431 in 452 at bats, playing primarily third base.

On December 6, 2023, De Los Santos was selected by theCleveland Guardians in the major league phase of theRule 5 draft and added to their40-man roster.[27] He was returned to the Diamondbacks on March 23, 2024, after failing to make Cleveland's opening day roster.[28] In 87 games split between Amarillo and the Triple-AReno Aces, he accumulated a .325/.376/.635 batting line with 28 home runs and 84 RBI.

On July 25, 2024, the Diamondbacks traded De Los Santos and Andrew Pintar to theMiami Marlins in exchange forA. J. Puk.[29] In 50 games for the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, he slashed .240/.284/.459 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI. De Los Santos won the 2024Pacific Coast League Top MLB Prospect Award.[30] On November 20, 2024, the Marlins added De Los Santos to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[31]

Following the 2024 season, De Los Santos playedwinter league baseball for theGigantes del Cibao of theDominican Professional Baseball League.[32] De Los Santos was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2025 season.[33]

Joshua Dean Ekness (born February 7, 2002) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Ekness attendedThe Woodlands High School inThe Woodlands, Texas and playedcollege baseball atLamar University and theUniversity of Houston.[34] He was selected by theMiami Marlins in the 12th round of the2023 Major League Baseball draft.[35]

Ekness spent his first professional season with theFlorida Complex League Marlins andJupiter Hammerheads. He pitched 2024 with Jupiter,Beloit Sky Carp andPensacola Blue Wahoos.

Evan Otto Fitterer (born June 26, 2000) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Fitterer attendedAliso Niguel High School inAliso Viejo, California. As a senior in 2019, he went 9-1 with a 0.97 ERA and 82strikeouts over 65innings alongside batting .375.[36] He was selected by theMiami Marlins in the fifth round of the2019 Major League Baseball draft.[37][38] He signed with the team, forgoing his commitment to playcollege baseball for theUCLA Bruins.[39]

Fitterer made his professional debut with theGulf Coast League Marlins, posting a 2.38 ERA and 19 strikeouts over22+23 innings.[40] He did not play a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by theCOVID-19 pandemic.[41] He pitched only30+13 innings in 2021 due to injury between the Gulf Coast League Marlins and theJupiter Hammerheads, but did pitch seven innings in theArizona Fall League for theMesa Solar Sox.[42] Fitterer pitched for theBeloit Sky Carp in 2022, starting 22 games and going 4-7 with a 4.28 ERA and eighty strikeouts over107+13 innings. He returned to Beloit to open the 2023 season and was promoted to thePensacola Blue Wahoos in late April.[43] Over 26 starts between the two teams, Fitterer went 9-8 with a 4.26 ERA and 118 strikeouts over122+23 innings.[44] Fitterer was assigned to Pensacola to open the 2024 season.[45]

Daxton James Fulton (born October 16, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Fulton went toMustang High School inHarris County, Texas, where he playedbaseball. He hit to a .427batting average in his junior season.[46] He tore a ligament in his pitching elbow at the end of his junior season of high school and opted to undergoTommy John surgery, which made him miss his senior season.[47] He committed toVanderbilt to playcollege baseball on September 22, 2017,[48] but he flipped his commitment toOklahoma on October 3, 2019.[46] Fulton was drafted in the second round with the 40th overall pick in the2020 Major League Baseball draft.[49]

Fulton signed for a $2.4 million signing bonus on July 20, 2020.[50] He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[51]

He made his professional debut in 2021 with theJupiter Hammerheads and theBeloit Sky Carp, appearing in twenty games (19 starts) and going 2–5 with a 4.60 ERA and 84 strikeouts over78+13 innings.[52] He opened the 2022 season back with Beloit.[53] After posting a 4.07 ERA across 20 starts, Fulton was promoted to the Double-APensacola Blue Wahoos in August.[54] In 4 games for Pensacola, he registered a 2.57 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 21.0 innings of work.

Fulton returned to Pensacola to begin the 2023 season, making 7 appearances (6 starts) and logging a 2–4 record and 5.18 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched.[55] On June 13, 2023, it was announced that Fulton would undergo season-ending surgery to repair theulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.[56]

Fulton did not appear for the organization in 2024 as he continued to rehab from injury. Following the season, the Marlins added Fulton to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[31] Fulton was optioned to Double-A Pensacola to begin the 2025 season.[57]

Johnston attendedGovernor John R. Rogers High School inPuyallup, Washington, and playedcollege baseball atGonzaga University[58] He was drafted by theMiami Marlins in the 17th round of the2019 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut with theBatavia Muckdogs.

Johnston did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by theCOVID-19 pandemic. He returned to play for theJupiter Hammerheads andBeloit Snappers in 2021.[59] After the season, he played in theArizona Fall League. Johnston started 2022 with thePensacola Blue Wahoos.[60]

Marsee attendedAllen Park High School inAllen Park, Michigan, and played college baseball atCentral Michigan University. He was drafted by theSan Diego Padres in the sixth round of the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[61] He signed with the Padres and started his professional career that year with theArizona Complex League Padres andLake Elsinore Storm.

Marsee played 2023 with theFort Wayne TinCaps.[62]

Nathan Adam Martorella (born February 18, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballfirst baseman in theMiami Marlins organization.

Martorella attendedSalinas High School inSalinas, California, and playedcollege baseball for theCalifornia Golden Bears baseball team. During the summer of 2021, he played in theCape Cod Baseball League for theCotuit Kettleers.[64][65] As a junior in 2022, he hit .333 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs over 55 starts.[66] He was selected by theSan Diego Padres in the fifth round with the 150th overall pick in the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[67]

Martorella signed and split his first professional season between theArizona Complex League Padres and theLake Elsinore Storm, hitting .322 over 28 games. He opened the 2023 season with theFort Wayne TinCaps.[68][69][70][71] In mid-August, he was promoted to theSan Antonio Missions.[72] Over 135 games, heslashed .255/.361/.437 with 19 home runs, 88 RBIs, and thirty doubles.[73] He was selected to play in theArizona Fall League for thePeoria Javelinas after the season.[74] Martorella was assigned back to San Antonio to open the 2024 season.[75]

On May 4, 2024, Martorella was traded to theMiami Marlins alongsideDillon Head,Jakob Marsee, andWoo-suk Go in exchange forLuis Arráez and cash considerations.[63] He was assigned to thePensacola Blue Wahoos, with whom he ended the season.[76] Over 127 games between San Antonio and Pensacola, he batted .229 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Zachary Tyler McCambley (born May 4, 1999) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

McCambley attendedPocono Mountain East High School inSwiftwater, Pennsylvania, where he went 6–1 with a 1.70 ERA and ninety strikeouts as a senior in 2017.[77] Unselected in the2017 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled atCoastal Carolina University where he playedcollege baseball.

As a freshman at Coastal Carolina in 2018, McCambley went 3–0 with a 3.14 ERA over 18 games, striking out fifty batters over48+23 innings.[78] In 2019, he appeared in 22 games (11 starts), going 6–3 with a 5.21 ERA, 76 strikeouts, and 27 walks over67+13 innings.[79] He played in theCape Cod Baseball League for theCotuit Kettleers that summer, posting a 1.74 ERA over20+23 innings.[80] In 2020, McCambley pitched 25 innings in which he went 3–1 with a 1.80 ERA and 32 strikeouts before the season was cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[81][82] He was selected by theMiami Marlins in the third round of the2020 Major League Baseball draft.[83][84]

McCambley signed with Miami and made his professional debut in 2021 with theBeloit Snappers of theHigh-A Central.[85] He was promoted to thePensacola Blue Wahoos of theDouble-A South in early July.[86][87] Over twenty starts between the two clubs, McCambley pitched to a 3–10 record, a 4.36 ERA, 120 strikeouts, and 26 walks over 97 innings.[52] He returned to Pensacola for the 2022 season.[88] Over 19 starts, he went 6–8 with a 5.65 ERA and 101 strikeouts over 94 innings.[89] He was selected to play in theArizona Fall League with thePeoria Javelinas.[90] He missed time during the 2023 season due to injury, but still pitched44+23 innings between theRookie-levelFlorida Complex League Marlins, theJupiter Hammerheads of theSingle-AFlorida State League, and Pensacola, going 6-0 with a 3.22 ERA and 51 strikeouts.[91] McCambley was assigned to Pensacola to open the 2024 season.[92]

Víctor Mesa Jr. (born September 8, 2001) is a Cuban professionalbaseballoutfielder for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Mesa is the son ofVíctor Mesa and the younger brother ofVíctor Víctor Mesa. Mesa and his brotherdefected from Cuba in 2018.[93] After they were declaredfree agents, both Mesa brothers signed with the Marlins on October 22. Mesa received a $1 millionsigning bonus.[94]

Mesa made his professional debut in 2019 with theGulf Coast League Marlins, batting .284/.366/.398 with one home run, 24 RBI, and seven stolen bases over 47 games. Mesa did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[95]

He returned to action in 2021 for the Single-AJupiter Hammerheads. In 112 games, Mesa hit .266/.317/.402 with 5 home runs, 71 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.[96] In 2022, he played in 121 games for the High-ABeloit Snappers, batting .244/.323/.346 with 5 home runs, 50 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.[97]

On April 18, 2023, while playing for the Double-APensacola Blue Wahoos, Mesa hit for the cycle in a game against theBirmingham Barons.[98] In 123 games for Pensacola, he batted .242/.308/.412 with career-highs in home runs (18), RBI (76), and stolen bases (16).[99]

On November 14, 2023, the Marlins added Mesa to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[100] He was optioned to the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to begin the 2024 season.[101] In 83 appearances split between Jupiter and Jacksonville, Mesa slashed .255/.318/.423 with 13 home runs, 51 RBI, and five stolen bases.

Mesa was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2025 season.[102]

Mesa became a United States citizen in February 2024.[103]

Karson McCullough Milbrandt (born April 21, 2004) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Milbrandt attendedLiberty High School inLiberty, Missouri. As a senior in 2022, he was theGatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Missouri.[104] He was drafted by theMiami Marlins in the third round of the2022 MLB draft.[105][106]

Milbrandt made his professional debut with theJupiter Hammerheads. He pitched 2023 with Jupiter and theBeloit Sky Carp.[107]

Patrick Dillon Monteverde (born September 24, 1997) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Monteverde attendedFox Chapel Area High School inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and playedcollege baseball atVirginia Wesleyan University,Seton Hill University andTexas Tech University.[108] He was drafted by theMiami Marlins in the eighth round of the2021 MLB draft.[109][110]

Monteverde made his professional debut with theFlorida Complex League Marlins. He pitched 2022 with theBeloit Sky Carp andPensacola Blue Wahoos and started 2023 with Pensacola.[111]

Emmett James Olson (born May 15, 2002) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Olson attendedMaine West High School inDes Plaines, Illinois, where he played baseball. As a junior in 2019, he went 4-1 with a 1.04 ERA and 79strikeouts.[112] He went unselected in the2020 Major League Baseball draft and enrolled at theUniversity of Nebraska to playcollege baseball.[113] He played forIndependence League Baseball with the Fremont Moo over the summer.[114]

Olson pitched sparingly as a freshman forNebraska in 2021. In 2022, as a sophomore, he appeared in 19 games and went 3-3 with a 2.86 ERA.[115] As a junior in 2023, Olson started 15 games and went 6-3 with a 4.50 ERA and eighty strikeouts over 82 innings.[116]

TheMiami Marlins selected him in the fourth round of the2023 Major League Baseball draft.[117][118] Olson signed with the Marlins and made his professional debut with theFlorida Complex League Marlins, appearing in one game in 2023. He opened the 2024 season with theJupiter Hammerheads and was promoted to theBeloit Sky Carp in late April.[119] Over 21 starts between the two teams, Olson went 7–6 with a 3.16 ERA and 95 strikeouts over102+23 innings.

Anderson Pilar (born March 2, 1998) is a Dominican professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

On November 4, 2015, Pilar signed with theColorado Rockies as an international free agent. He spent his first three professional seasons with theDominican Summer League Rockies, accumulating a 6-9 record and 2.44 ERA with 80 strikeouts and 9saves across 96 innings pitched.[120] Pilar spent 2019 with the rookie-levelGrand Junction Rockies, recording a 3.93 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 24 appearances out of thebullpen. He did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[121]

Pilar returned to action in 2021 with the Single-AFresno Grizzlies. In 33 appearances, he compiled a 6-0 record and 1.61 ERA with 57 strikeouts across61+23 innings pitched.[122] He spent 2022 with the High-ASpokane Indians, making 30 appearances and posting a 5-3 record and 4.16 ERA with 59 strikeouts over62+23 innings.[123] Pilar split the 2023 season between the rookie-levelArizona Complex League Rockies, Fresno, and Spokane, accumulating a 7-4 record and 3.07 ERA with 67 strikeouts across 17 games (9 starts). He elected free agency following the season on November 6, 2023.[124]

On December 21, 2023, Pilar signed a minor league contract with theMiami Marlins organization. He split the 2024 season between the High-ABeloit Snappers, Double-APensacola Blue Wahoos, and Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. In 37 games split between the three affiliates, Pilar registered a combined 2.64 ERA with 71 strikeouts over 58 innings pitched.[125]

On December 11, 2024, theAtlanta Braves selected Pilar from the Marlins in theRule 5 draft.[126] On March 19, 2025, Pilar was returned to the Marlins organization.[127]

Ramírez signed with theNew York Yankees as an international free agent on July 12, 2018.[128] He made his professional debut in 2019 with theDominican Summer League Yankees. Ramírez did not play in a game 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic. He played 2021 and 2022 with theFlorida Complex League Yankees.

Ramírez played 2023 withTampa Tarpons,Hudson Valley Renegades andSomerset Patriots.[129][130]

On November 14, 2023, the Yankees added Ramírez to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft. He was optioned to the Double-ASomerset Patriots to begin the 2024 season.[131]

On July 27, 2024, the Yankeees traded Ramírez,Jared Serna, and Abrahan Ramírez to theMiami Marlins in exchange forJazz Chisholm Jr..[132][133] He spent the remainder of the season with the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, playing in 39 games and hitting .262/.358/.447 with five home runs, 24 RBI, and four stolen bases.

Ramírez was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2025 season.[134]

Christian Michael Roa (born April 2, 1999) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Roa attendedMemorial High School inHouston,Texas.[135][136] He played bothbaseball andfootball.[137] Undrafted in the2017 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled atTexas A&M University where he playedcollege baseball for theAggies.

In 2018, Roa's freshman season, he pitched in 14 games (with one start), pitching to a 4.30 ERA with 12strikeouts over14+23 innings.[138] That summer, he played in theNorthwoods League for theLa Crosse Loggers.[139] As a sophomore in 2019, he appeared in 17 games (making ten starts), going 3–2 with a 3.56 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 48 innings.[140][141] On March 19, 2019, he was named theSEC Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven scoreless innings against the second rankedVanderbilt Commodores.[142] In 2020, Roa returned to the Aggies starting rotation. He started four games, pitching to a 2–1 record and a 5.85 ERA over twenty innings before the season was ended early due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[143]

TheCincinnati Reds selected Roa in the second round with the 48th overall pick in the2020 MLB draft.[144][145][146] He signed with the Reds for $1.5 million.[147][148] He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the pandemic.[149] To begin the 2021 season, he was assigned to theDaytona Tortugas of theLow-A Southeast.[150] He was placed on theinjured list in May with a right elbow flexor mass strain, and did not return to play until mid-July.[151] In early August, he was promoted to theDayton Dragons of theHigh-A Central.[152] Over 15 games (13 starts) between the two clubs, Roa went 4–3 with a 3.53 ERA and 67 strikeouts over58+23 innings.[153] He opened the 2022 season on the injured list, but was activated in early May and assigned to Dayton.[154] In late August, he was promoted to theChattanooga Lookouts of theDouble-ASouthern League.[155] Over twenty starts between both teams, Roa went 6–3 with a 3.56 ERA and 102 strikeouts over ninety innings.[156] He was selected to play in theArizona Fall League for theGlendale Desert Dogs after the season.[157]

On November 14, 2022, the Reds added Roa to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[158] Roa opened the 2023 season with Chattanooga and was promoted to theLouisville Bats of theTriple-AInternational League during the season. Over 28 games (25 starts) between the two teams, he went 5-9 with a 5.16 ERA and 170 strikeouts over120+13 innings.[159]

Roa was optioned to Louisville to begin the 2024 season.[160] In 23 games for Louisville, he compiled a 4–5 record and 5.55 ERA with 47 strikeouts over48+23 innings pitched. On August 19, 2024, Roa was placed on the 60-dayinjured list with a right shoulder sprain.[161]

On November 1, 2024, Roa was claimed off waivers by theMiami Marlins.[162] He was removed from the 40-man roster and sent outright to the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on November 15.[163]

Jared Enrique Serna (born June 1, 2002) is a Mexican professionalbaseballinfielder for theMiami Marlins ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Serna signed with theNew York Yankees as an international free agent in July 2019.[164] He did not play in a game 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic, and did not make his professional debut until 2021 with theDominican Summer League Yankees.

On July 27, 2024, the Yankeees traded Serna,Agustín Ramírez, and Abrahan Ramírez to theMiami Marlins forJazz Chisholm Jr.[165] In 39 games for the Double-APensacola Blue Wahoos, he slashed .266/.343/.390 with two home runs, 23 RBI, and three stolen bases. Serna also appeared in six games for the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, going 2-for-20 (.100) with one RBI and one stolen base. Following the season, the Marlins added Serna to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[31]

Serna was optioned to Double-A Pensacola to begin the 2025 season.[166]

Jun-Seok Shim (born April 9, 2004) is a Koreanbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Shim attended Duksoo High School inSeoul,South Korea.[167] In 2020, he went 4–1 with a 1.42 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 19 innings pitched. Shim suffered a elbow injury that hampered his 2021 season.[168] He struggled with a back injury in 2022 and pitched20+23 innings over 12 appearances, posting a 5.14 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 22 walks.[169] Shim did not apply for the 2022Korea Baseball Organization Draft and hired agentScott Boras to focus on being signed by aMajor League Baseball (MLB) team as an international free agent.[170][171]

Shim was signed by thePittsburgh Pirates on January 26, 2023 and received a $750,000 signing bonus.[172][173] He began the 2023 season in extended spring training.[174] Shim was later assigned to theRookie-levelFlorida Complex League Pirates.[175]

On July 30, 2024, the Pirates traded Shim and Garret Forrester to theMiami Marlins forBryan De La Cruz.[176]

Joshua Wayne Simpson (born August 19, 1997) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theMiami Marlins organization.

Simpson attendedStafford High School inStafford, Connecticut, and playedcollege baseball atColumbia University. He was drafted by theMiami Marlins in the 32nd round of the2019 Major League Baseball Draft.[177] He spent his first professional season with theGulf Coast Marlins andBatavia Muckdogs.[178]

Simpson did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of theCOVID-19 pandemic.[179] He returned to pitch for theFlorida Complex League Marlins andBeloit Snappers in 2021. After the season, he played in theArizona Fall League.[180] Simpson started 2022 with thePensacola Blue Wahoos.

On November 15, 2022, the Marlins added Simpson to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[181] Simpson was optioned to the Triple-AJacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to begin the 2023 season.[182] In 23 appearances for Jacksonville, he logged a 4.50 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 32 innings of work. On September 12, 2023, Simpson was promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[183] He did not make an appearance for Miami before he was optioned back to Jacksonville on September 17, and became aphantom ballplayer.[184]

Simpson began the 2024 season on the injured list with left elbow neuritis. He was transferred to the 60-dayinjured list on April 20.[185] On April 23, it was announced that Simpson would miss three months after undergoing surgery forulnar nerveneuritis.[186] He was activated from the injured list on September 3.[187] On November 4, Simpson was removed from the 40-man roster and sent outright to Jacksonville.[11]

Brock Comegys Vradenburg (born March 20, 2002) is an American professionalbaseballfirst baseman in theMiami Marlins organization.

Vradenburg attendedMaranatha High School inPasadena, California and playedcollege baseball for theMichigan State Spartans. He was named first-team All-Big Ten Conference as a junior after batting .400 with 13 home runs and 69 RBIs.[188] Vradenburg playedsummer collegiate baseball for theLexington County Blowfish of theCoastal Plain League in 2021 and 2022.[189]

TheMiami Marlins selected Vradenburg in the third round of the2023 Major League Baseball draft.[190] After signing with the team he was assigned to theJupiter Hammerheads of theSingle-AFlorida State League.[191]
