Davide Formolo (born 25 October 1992) is an Italian professionalroad racing cyclist, who currently rides forUCI WorldTeamMovistar Team.[8] Formolo turned professional in 2014.[3]

Biography

Born on 25 October 1992, inNegrar,Italy, Formolo resides inMarano di Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy.[3][9]

He signed withCannondale, a UCI ProTeam, for the 2014 season.[10][11]

Formolo signed withCannondale–Garmin, a UCI WorldTeam, for the 2015 season.[12][13]

On 12 May 2015, at theGiro d'Italia, Formolo escaped with twenty riders, and successfully soloed, 14 kilometres (8.7 miles), to the finish.[14][15] He finished twenty-two seconds ahead of thepeloton.[16][17] He was named in the startlist for the2016 Vuelta a España.[18]

After two seasons withBora–Hansgrohe, it was announced that Formolo would joinUAE Team Emirates on a two-year contract from 2020.[6] In August 2020, he was named in the startlist for the2020 Tour de France.[19] He withdrew from the race following stage 10, after he was diagnosed with a fractured collarbone following a crash.[20]
