
David John Stanton (born 10 October 1960) is an English priest, the present Sub-Dean of Westminster Abbey.[1] In that role, he took part in the2023 Coronation.[2]
Stanton studied at theUniversity of St Andrews, prepared for ordination atRipon College Cuddesdon, was ordained deacon in 1985 and priest in 1986,[3] and undertook postgraduate studies at theUniversity of Plymouth and theUniversity of Exeter.[4]

He was appointed a Canon Residentiary ofWestminster Abbey in 2013,[4] as Canon Treasurer and Almoner.[5]
He is a governor ofWestminster School and of theUniversity of Westminster, Vice Chair of Oxford University Research Ethics Committee (Humanities & Social Sciences Divisions), and a Distinguished Friend of Oxford University.[1][6]
