David Alan SproxtonCBE (born 6 January 1954)[1][2] is a British entrepreneur, best known as one of the co-founders, withPeter Lord, of theAardman Animations studio. Sproxton was appointed aCommander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) on 17 June 2006.
Sproxton graduated fromCollingwood College,Durham University before starting as ananimator, producing segments for theVision OnTV program, Sproxton and Lord created the character ofMorph forTake Hart (which featuredTony Hart, the artist fromVision On).
He is credited as thecinematographer for theBAFTA Award-nominatedWar Story, and theAcademy Award-nominatedAdam, as well as the Academy Award-winningCreature Comforts directed byNick Park.Other production credits includeChicken Run,Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit andArthur Christmas.
In May 2006, Sproxton (along with Peter Lord) visited the "Aardman Exhibit" at theGhibli Museum inMitaka,Tokyo, Japan, where he metHayao Miyazaki.[3] Miyazaki has long been a fan of the Aardman Animation works.[3]
