David Shafer Sprague[1] (August 11, 1910 – February 20, 1968) was a starfootball player in theCanadian Football League (CFL) for eleven seasons for theHamilton Tigers and theOttawa Rough Riders. He was inducted into theCanadian Football Hall of Fame in 1963 and into theCanada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.
Sprague representedElmdale Ward for one year onOttawa City Council in 1940.[2] In the1940 election he ran for a seat on theOttawa Board of Control, but lost.
