David Gordon Mawutor (born 12 April 1992) is a Ghanaian professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forKhujand.[1][2][3] He predominantly plays as a central midfielder and at times plays as a defensive.[4][5]
Mawutor was born inAccra on 12 April 1992[6] and played for Thyword FC and YF Juventus SC 2.division in Ghana before moving to Tajikistan to start his professional career in 2012.
Mawutor initially joinedTajik League sideRavshan Kulob on loan for the 2012 season, making the move permanent the following season.[7] Mawutor made hisAFC Cup debut for Ravshan Kulob in a 0–1 defeat againstAl-Ramtha on 6 March 2013.[8] In 2013, Mawutor went on trial withNeftchala as a striker.[9]
In January 2014, Mawutor signed a one-year contract withFC Istiklol.[10] During January 2015, Mawutor went on trial withRFNL sideYenisey Krasnoyarsk.[11][12] Mawutor left Istiklol in 2015,[13] rejoining the club during the summer of 2016,[7] and was included in the clubs2017 AFC Cup squad, making his debut againstDordoi Bishkek,[14][15] scoring the first goal in Istiklol's 2–0 win.[16][17][18][19] On 18 April 2017, David scored his second goal forFC Istiklol in their 3–1 victory overFC Alay in the 2017AFC Cup.[20][21] Mawutor featured for Istiklol in their 1–02017 AFC Cup Final defeat to Iraqi clubAl-Quwa Al-Jawiya on 4 November 2017, with the only goal coming fromEmad Mohsin.[22][23]
Towards the end of 2017, Mawutor began to attract interest from clubs in Europe.[24] On 29 January 2018, Istiklol announced that Mawutor had left the club after they agreed to mutually terminate his contract four months early.[25]
In January 2018, Mawutor was named inPSMS Medan'sPresident's Cup squad,[26] but due to an issue with his registration never officially joined.[27]
In February 2018, it was reported that Mawutor had signed a one-year contract withKazakhstan Premier League clubFC Zhetysu.[28]
On 21 February 2021, Mawutor signed with Polish clubWisła Kraków.[29][30] Mawutor left Wisła Kraków in May 2021 following the expiration of his contract, having played seven times for the club.[31]
On 14 July 2021,Shakhter Karagandy announced the signing of Mawutor.[32]
On 20 July 2023, Mawutor returned to theKazakhstan Premier League, signing forAksu.[33]
On 27 July 2024,Ravshan Kulob announced the return of Mawutor.[34]
On 9 February 2025,Khujand announced the signing of Mawutor.[35]
In November 2016, Mawutor married his Ukrainian wife Victoria.[36] He holds both Ghanaian and Tajiki citizenship.[37]
