David Mandel (born 1969 or 1970 (age 54–55)[1]) is an American writer, actor, director, and producer. He was an executive producer andshowrunner ofVeep, and also an executive producer and director ofCurb Your Enthusiasm andSeinfeld. He is also a comedian,[2] and one of the producer-directors of the teen comedyEuroTrip. He was a writer forSeinfeld during its seventh, eighth, and ninth seasons and also co-wrote the screenplay for the 2003 film adaptation ofThe Cat in the Hat. He is one of the creators ofClerks: The Animated Series, and he was a writer forSaturday Night Live. He had a brief stint as a host ofDave and Steve's Video Game Explosion, a comedy video game review show that aired late nights onTBS as part of theBurly Bear Network. The show only lasted a few episodes before the entire block was canceled.

Mandel is also one of the authors ofStar Wars Art: Ralph McQuarrie, a comprehensive collection ofStar Wars artwork byRalph McQuarrie, published in 2016 byAbrams Books.[3]

Since October 2020, Mandel has hosted the podcastThe Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, detailing movie props and collectables with writerRyan Condal.[4]

He graduated from theHorace Mann School in 1988,[5] and fromHarvard University in 1992, where he worked for theHarvard Lampoon.[6] He is Jewish.[7]
