David Lewis Smith (May 18, 1947 – May 22, 2020) was an American professionalfootball player who was awide receiver in theNational Football League (NFL). He was selected by thePittsburgh Steelers in the eighth round of the1970 NFL draft. He playedcollege football andbasketball atIndiana (PA) andWaynesburg.
Smith was known for afumble in aMonday Night Football game against theKansas City Chiefs while trying to score atouchdown,[1] and led the Steelers in touchdownreceptions in 1971.[2] He also played for theHouston Oilers and Kansas City.
Smith died on May 22, 2020, at age 73.[3]
