David Goodwin (born 15 October 1954) is an English formerfootballer who played inthe Football League forBury,Crewe Alexandra,Mansfield Town,Rochdale, andStoke City.[1]
Goodwin was born inNantwich and began his career withStoke City where he made an impressive start scoring on his debut in a 2–0 home win overWest Ham United at the start of the1973–74 season.[1] He played six more times for the "Potters" that season scoring in another 2–0 win at home toNorwich City.[1] He spent the summer of 1974 playing in the United States withMiami Toros. He returned to theVictoria Ground in1975–76 playing in four matches and then spent time out on loan atWorkington playing seven times for theBorough Park side failing to find the net.[1] He returned to Stoke and played in 13 matches in1976–77 scoring in a 1–0 win away atIpswich Town as Stoke were relegated at the end of the season.[1] After failing to establish himself inGeorge Eastham's side he was sold toMansfield Town.[1]
With the "Stags" Goodwin played 60 times scoring eight goals in three seasons with saw Mansfield be relegated from the Second Division to Fourth.[1] He then had one season spells withBury,Rochdale andCrewe Alexandra ending his career with non-leagueMacclesfield.[1]
