Dars-i Nizami (Urdu:درس نظامی) is a study curriculum or system used in many Islamic institutions (madrassas) andDarul Ulooms, which originated in theIndian subcontinent in the18th century and can now also be found in parts ofSouth Africa,Canada,the United States,the Caribbean andthe UK.[1]

The Dars-i Nizami system was developed byNizamuddin Sihalivi (1161AH/1748CE) from the Firangi MahalUlama (Islamic scholars) group, after whom the Dars-i Nizami were named (Robinson, 2001: p72).Sihali is a village inFatehpur Block inBarabanki District ofUttar Pradesh State,India.[2]
