Daren Township (Chinese:達仁鄉;pinyin:Dárén Xiāng;Wade–Giles:Ta2-jen2 Hsiang1) is amountain indigenous township inTaitung County,Taiwan. The main population is thePaiwan people of theTaiwanese aborigines.
In 2012, Daren, along withWuqiu Township inKinmen County (Quemoy), was proposed by theMinistry of Economic Affairs as the candidate of the new disposal site ofnuclear waste after theLanyu Storage Site inOrchid Island,Taitung County. This proposal however received heavy objection from the local Wuqiu residents.[1]
The township comprises six villages: Anshuo, Nantan, Senyong, Sinhua, Taiban and Tuban.[2]
TheSouth-Link Highway passes through Daren Township, intersectingHighway 26 at Ansuo.
