Danny Ramirez (born September 17, 1992) is an American actor. He is best known for his role asJoaquin Torres / Falcon in theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) filmCaptain America: Brave New World (2025) and theDisney+ seriesThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021). He has also had roles in the filmTop Gun: Maverick (2022), and theHBO television seriesThe Last of Us (2025).
Danny Ramirez was born inChicago,Illinois, and grew up inMiami,Florida.[2] He is ofColombian andMexican descent, attendedMiami Coral Park Senior High School and initially wanted to be an athlete, trying outAmerican football andsoccer. He noted that after encountering injuries, he realized he needed a new career.[3] He studied atNew York University Tisch School of the Arts.[4]
Ramirez made his screen and television debut onShowtime'sThe Affair (2016) as "Moving Van Kid #1", andNBC'sBlindspot (2016) in another minor role.[5] In 2017, he garnered some recognition for his recurring role as Wes onFox'sThe Gifted (2017), and had a guest role inOrange Is the New Black (2017).[6] From 2018 to 2019, he had a recurring role onNetflix'sOn My Block.[7] In 2018, Ramirez graduated Tisch, and made his film debut inSam Levinson'sAssassination Nation which premiered at theSundance Film Festival.[8] He went on to have supporting roles inTone-Deaf (2019),Lost Transmissions (2019),The Giant (2019),Silo (2019),This Is Not a War Story (2020) andValley Girl (2020), a remake of the1983 musical of the same name.[9]
In August 2018, it was announced that Ramirez appear inTop Gun: Maverick alongsideTom Cruise,Glen Powell andMiles Teller, initially set for release in 2019.[10] In November, Ramirez was honoured as the "Rising Star" at the Third Annual NYU Stonestreet Granite Awards, an award previously awarded to Teller andRachel Brosnahan.[11]Maverick received several delays and setbacks due to theCOVID-19 pandemic, and was eventually released in May 27, 2022.[12]
In 2021, Ramirez portrayedJoaquin Torres in theDisney+ seriesThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), set in theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).[13] Throughout 2022, Ramirez appeared in multiple films having lead roles inNo Exit (2022), andLook Both Ways (2022), with the latter alongsideLili Reinhart. He also had a starring role inStars at Noon (2022),[14] andRoot Letter (2022); the latter based on a Japanese video game.[15] He later had supporting roles inChestnut (2023),[16] andWinner (2024).[17] He also went on to appear in bothanthology seriesTales of the Walking Dead (2022),[18] andBlack Mirror (2023) in the respective episodes "La Doña" and "Mazey Day".[19]
In early 2024, Ramirez launched a production company, Pinstripes with his longtime friend and collaborater, producer Tom Culliver, with the aim to tell "the stories no one else is, in a fashion you'll never forget".[20][21] In February 2025, Ramirez reprised his role as Torres in the MCU filmCaptain America: Brave New World (2025) where the character takes on the mantle ofFalcon fromAnthony Mackie'sSam Wilson.[22] In April 2025, Ramirez appeared asManny in thesecond season of theHBO seriesThe Last of Us after having been cast in March the year previously.[23]
In 2023, it announced that Ramirez would star alongside American actorJoaquin Phoenix in a "sexually explicit" love story between two men in the 1930s, set to be directed byTodd Haynes.[24] A year later, five days before production began, Phoenix dropped out from the film abruptly.[25][26] Ramirez called it a "complicated situation", and expressed his disappointment in the subsequent cancellation of the film.[27] That same month, American actorLewis Pullman expressed interest in replacing Phoenix.[28] In August 2025, the film was revealed to be titledDe Noche with actorPedro Pascal in talks to replace Phoenix.[29]
In August 2024,Deadline reported that Ramirez would star in a film that he helped co-write,Pursuit of Touch, alongsideJeremy O. Harris.[30] In November, the same publication also reported that Ramirez would make his directorial debut with aSports drama film titledBaton, produced byVictoria Alonso andDavid Beckham.[31] In March 2025, it was confirmed that Ramirez will reprise his role of Falcon in the upcoming MCU filmAvengers: Doomsday, set for release in November 2026.[32][33] In August 2025,Deadline announced that Ramirez would star in an adaption ofScarface.[34] In an interview with the same publication, Ramirez also confirmed that he and Lewis Pullman would also star in a film titledThe Juice.[20] In October,Deadline reported that Ramirez had wrapped filming a biopic based onJean-Michel Basquiat titledSamo Lives.[35]
As of 2025, Ramirez has been in a relationship with American actressJessica Alba.[36]
