Danish philosophy has a long tradition as part ofWestern philosophy.[1]
Perhaps the most influential Danish philosopher wasSøren Kierkegaard, the creator ofChristian existentialism, which inspired the philosophical movement ofExistentialism. Kierkegaard had a few Danish followers, includingHarald Høffding, who later in his life moved on to join the movement ofpositivism. Among Kierkegaard's other followers includeJean-Paul Sartre who was impressed with Kierkegaard's views on the individual, andRollo May, who helped createhumanistic psychology. Danish philosophy was also strongly influenced by Frenchhermeneutics philosopherPaul Ricœur.[2]
