Danielle Campo, OOnt, (born January 4, 1985) is a CanadianParalympicswimmer.

Career

Campo first competed for Canada at the2000 Summer Paralympics inSydney, where she won gold in the100 metre freestyle S7 in aworld record time of 1:14.64,[2] gold in the50 metre freestyle S7 in aParalympic record time of 34.98,[3] silver in the400 metre freestyle S7 in 5:35.08[4] and withJessica Sloan,Andrea Cole andStéphanie Dixon won gold in the4×100 metre freestyle 34pts in a world record time of 4:38.01.[5]

At the2002 Commonwealth Games inManchester, Campo won bronze in the50 metre EAD freestyle. Competing against swimmers in otherclassifications, Campo covered the distance in aGames record time of 35.02,[6] 0.04 seconds over her target time.[7]

At the2002 IPC World Championships inMar del Plata,Argentina, Campo won gold in the50 metre freestyle S7 in 34.77,[8] gold in the100 metre freestyle S7 in 1:15.88[9] and silver in the400 metre freestyle S7 in 5:46.16.[10]

At the2004 Summer Paralympics inAthens, Campo won bronze in the50 metre freestyle S7 in 35.17,[11] bronze in the400 metre freestyle S7 in 5:39.13,[12] finished 4th in the100 metre freestyle S7 in 1:15.97,[13] finished 11th in the50 metre butterfly S7 in 48.56[14] and with Dixon, Cole andAnne Polinario won silver in the4×100 metre freestyle 34pts in 4:41.70.[15]

Honours

For her sporting success, Campo was awarded theQueen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 1992,[16] theQueen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012[17] and in 2001 became a member of theOrder of Ontario.[18]
