Daniel Storey is a British journalist and author. He is the Chief Football Writer at thei (newspaper).

The Deputy Editor ofFootball365 until October 2018,[1] Storey was named theFootball Supporters Federation‘Football Writer of the Year’ for 2016.[2]

He has written forThe Independent[3] The Set Pieces,[4]The Daily Mirror,[5]The Guardian,[6]Sky Sports[7] and Vice.[8] He has written regularly for theIrish Examiner.[9] Storey has contributed long pieces to theBBC Sport website.[10]

Storey is a regular on the‘Football Fives’ podcast[11] and has appeared onTalksport,[12]BT Sport[13] andThe Anfield Wrap.[14] He appears regularly onThe Totally Football Show and has guested on The Athletic’sFootball Cliches podcast.[15][16][17][18]

His book ‘A Portrait of an Icon’ was published by Ockley Books and all profits were donated to theSir Bobby Robson Foundation.[19][20][21][22][23] His audio book aboutPaul Gascoigne and his time spent playing in Italy forS.S. Lazio has been narrated by formerFootball Italia presenterJames Richardson.[24] It was also serialised onTalkSport.[25] The book was published in physical form byHarperCollins in late 2018.[26]

Storey’s 2019 release is a book about controversial FrenchmanEric Cantona andManchester United, entitled250 Days: Cantona’s Kung Fu and the Making of Man U. The book looks at Cantona’s attack on aCrystal Palace FC fan atSelhurst Park, the subsequent custodial sentence, the longest domestic ban ever handed to a player, and how Manchester United managerAlex Ferguson handled “the most controversial moment inPremier League history.”[27]

He was included amongst the most influentialTwitter users in UKassociation football.[28] His tweets being used by outlets such asJOE[29] andSports Illustrated.[30][31] In November 2023, he was nominated in the Writer of the Year category at theFootball Supporters' Association awards.[32]

Personal life

He was educated atNottingham High School and theUniversity of Manchester,[33] and is a supporter ofNottingham Forest.[34]
