Garcia made hisAll Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut onDark in September 2020 and was officially signed in October 2021. Early in his run, he established himself as aheel and aligned with2point0 (Matt Menard and Angelo Parker), forming a trio that regularly appeared on AEW programming.[9] In March 2022, the group joinedChris Jericho andJake Hager to form theJericho Appreciation Society (JAS), a faction promoting a "sports entertainment" philosophy.[10]

Later that year, the JAS was entred a feud with theBlackpool Combat Club (BCC), with BCC memberBryan Danielson encouraging Garcia to embrace his technical wrestling background and join the BCC. Although teased to leave the JAS, Garcia ultimately remained loyal to Jericho after attacking Danielson theROH World Championship match between Jericho and Danielson.[11][12][13] AtDouble or Nothing on May 29, the JAS defeared the BCC,Eddie Kingston,Santana and Ortiz) in anAnarchy in the Arena match.[14] The JAS would face the BCC Kingston, Santana and Ortiz, in a rematch in aBlood and Guts match at theeponymous event, but were defeated.[15] On the September 7, 2022, episode ofDynamite, he defeatedWheeler Yuta to win theROH Pure Championship, which he held for 94 days before losing it back to Yuta atFinal Battle.[16][17]

In 2023, Garcia unsuccessfully challenged for theAEW International Championship on multiple occasions, including a four-way match atForbidden Door.[18] He also reached the finals of the "Blind Eliminator" tag team tournament withSammy Guevara, losing toMJF andAdam Cole.[19] The JAS disbanded later that year, and Garcia resumed teaming with Menard and Parker, turningface.[20]

Singles competition (2023–2025)

[edit]

Following the breakup of the Jericho Appreciation Society, Garcia continued teaming with Matt Menard and Angelo Parker, with the trio unsuccessfully challenging for theAEW World Trios Championship on two occasions.[21] Garcia later entered a brief program with MJF, culminating in anAEW World Championship match on the November 29, 2023, episode ofDynamite, which Garcia lost.[22][23] Garcia was announced as a participant in theinaugural Continental Classic tournament.[24] After a four-match losing streak, he earned a victory in his final bout againstBrody King, finishing the tournament with three points.[25]

In early 2024, Garcia aligned withFTR in a feud against theHouse of Black, earning a singles win overBuddy Matthews[26] and later teaming with FTR in a victory over the group in anEscape The Cage Elimination match.[27] He then entered a storyline pursuit of theTNT Championship, which led to a match againstChristian Cage atRevolution, where he was unsuccessful.[28] On July 3 atBeach Break, Garcia facedWill Ospreay for the International Championship but lost after interference from MJF. A post-match attack by MJF wrote Garcia off television.[29] He returned atAll In in August, interfering in Ospreay’s match against MJF and costing MJF the title. The feud concluded atAll Out, where Garcia was defeated but attacked MJF after the match.[30]

Garcia returned onDynamite in October and announced he had re-signed with AEW.[31] The following month, he defeatedJack Perry atFull Gear to win the TNT Championship, his first title in AEW.[32] He was later confirmed for the2024 Continental Classic, finishing with seven points but failing to advance to the semifinals.[33][34] During his 134-day reign as TNT Champion, Garcia made successful defenses against several opponents such asMark Briscoe andKatsuyori Shibata,[35][36] before losing the title toAdam Cole atDynasty on April 6, 2025.[37] After losing to Cole, Garcia entered a feud with FTR, who were now heels.[38][39] On May 25 atDouble or Nothing, Garcia teamed withNigel McGuinness in a losing effort against FTR.[40] On July 12 atAll In, Garcia competed in a four-way match for the vacant TNT Championship, but failed to win.[41]

Death Riders (2025–present)

[edit]

On the September 10 episode ofDynamite, Garcia turned heel after attackingDarby Allin, aligning himself withJon Moxley, and joining his stable theDeath Riders.[42] AtAll Out Tailgate Brawl on September 20, Garcia defeated Katsuyori Shibata.[43] The Death Riders were defeated by Darby Allin,Roderick Strong, and The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe,Orange Cassidy, andKyle O'Reilly) inBlood and Guts match on November 12 at thenamesake event.[44] On December 27 atWorlds End, the Death Riders (barring Moxley andPac) were defeated by"Timeless" Toni Storm, Roderick Strong, and The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy) in aMixed Nuts Mayhem match. Later in the night, the Death Riders appeared in the ring to celebrate Moxley winning theContinental Classic and theAEW Continental Championship.[45]

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (2021–2023)

[edit]

In 2021, Garcia debuted forPro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), where he won theBattle of Los Angeles tournament in January 2022.[46] He defeatedBandido in May to win thePWG World Championship,[47] successfully defending the title against several challengers. As of August 2023, PWG has since gone on hiatus, leaving Garcia's status as PWG World Champion unknown.[48][49]

Professional wrestling style and persona

[edit]
Garcia, seen here in 2019, applying aSharpshooter hold, which he dubbed theDragon Tamer in 2022.

Garcia has been described as atechnical wrestler.[50][51] He uses a bridgingSharpshooter hold as a finishing move, which since 2022 he calls theDragon Tamer.[52][53] This is a reference to his upset victory over "The American Dragon"Bryan Danielson by using the move at theDynamite specialFight for the Fallen on July 27, 2022.

Following his entry into the JAS, Garcia rejected the label "professional wrestler" and embraced calling himself asports entertainer,[54][55] a pejorative term used in AEW to denote a wrestling storytelling style that prioritizes showmanship.[56] On aDynamite show held inEl Paso, Texas, Garcia began to dance in aLatin-esque way to elicit reactions from the crowd; he has since incorporated this into his character, where he uses the dance as a taunt.[57]

Personal life

[edit]

In January 2019, Garcia broke both of his legs in a car crash involving three other wrestlers. The vehicle he was riding in crashed after hittingblack ice.[58][59] Garcia returned to wrestling six months later. The following year, he graduated fromBuffalo State College with a communications degree.[4]
