Dale Lennon (born December 13, 1960) is an American formercollege football coach and athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at theUniversity of Mary inBismarck, North Dakota from 1997 to 1998, theUniversity of North Dakota from 1999 to 2007, and theSouthern Illinois University Carbondale from 2007 to 2015, compiling a career record of 153–75. Lennon led the2001 North Dakota Fighting Sioux football team to anNCAA Division II Football Championship. His record was 90–24 in nine seasons as the head coach of theNorth Dakota Fighting Sioux and he is the program's all-time winningest coach. In May 2017, Lennon returned to the University of Mary as the school'sathletic director.[1] He left University of Mary in 2022 to become the executive director of the State Historical Society of North Dakota Foundation.[2]
Dale Lennon was inducted into theUniversity of North Dakota Athletic Hall of Fame on October 12, 2023, at theAlerus Center.[3] Lennon was head coach for nine seasons.
Lennon's connection toNorth Dakota extends to his playing days in the early 1980s, where he served as team captain in 1983.[4]
