TheOffice of National Security Intelligence of theUnited StatesDrug Enforcement Administration (DEA), established in 1973, helps initiate new investigations of major drug organizations, strengthens ongoing ones and subsequent prosecutions, develops information that leads to seizures and arrests, and provides policy makers withillegal drug trade trend information upon which programmatic decisions can be based.[1] Additionally, the intelligence program has been one of thefederal organizations that make up theUnited States Intelligence Community since 2006.[2][3][4][5]
It employs over 680 intelligence analysts (I/As) and is led by theDEA Assistant Administrator for Intelligence.[1]
