Plot

Episodes 1–4 of High Volume adaptFrank Miller andDavid Mazzucchelli'sBatman: Year One, a story that follows Bruce Wayne's first year as the vigilanteBatman andJames Gordon's struggles navigatingGotham City as an honourable man working amongst a corrupt police force.[2]

Episodes 5–17 adaptJeph Loeb andTim Sale'sBatman: The Long Halloween, which centres around Batman, Gordon andHarvey Dent's efforts to catch a mysterious killer known as Holiday. The story culminates with Harvey Dent's scarring, both mentally and physically, and his transformation into Two-Face.[2][5]

Episodes 18-30 adapt Loeb and Sale'sBatman: Dark Victory, the direct sequel toThe Long Halloween. It follows Batman, trying to catch another serial killer 'Hangman' and taking on a child protégé, 'Robin'.[6][7][3][4][8]

Future episodes will adaptDarwyn Cooke'sBatman: Ego,Batman: The Gauntlet by Bruce Canwell andLee Weeks,Nightwing: Year One,Batman: The Killing Joke, andOracle: Year One.[9]
